RISK AND SECURITY MANAGEMENT

Generative AI models need data and data context to enrich business services and streamline operations. However, data leakage and privacy are major concerns for enterprises, especially when using sensitive data such as PI or PII. Google Sensitive Data Protection offers a data-focused approach to protect gen AI applications, as shown in a Jupyter Notebook with real-life examples.

ShellTorch is a set of critical security flaws in TorchServe, a tool for serving PyTorch models. The flaws allow remote code execution and server takeover by attackers who can upload malicious models without authentication. The flaws are caused by an insecure management interface, a remote SSRF vulnerability, and an outdated SnakeYAML library. Users should update to TorchServe version 0.8.2 to fix the issues.

REGULATIONS

The latest updates on the national and international governing boards on the progress to regulate AI.

Generative AI is a game-changing technology, but it also poses legal challenges for enterprises. The current laws and regulations are outdated and unclear, and the indemnity clauses offered by AI vendors are weak or nonexistent. Enterprises need to be aware of the risks and liabilities of using generative AI for content creation.

Privacy

Snapchat's AI chatbot may pose privacy risks to children, UK watchdog warns. The ICO said Snap failed to properly assess the risks before launching "My AI" in April and could ban it if not satisfied with the company's response. Snap said it followed a robust legal and privacy review and would work constructively with the ICO.

SUSTAINABILITY

AI is a powerful ally for climate action, as shown by the 2023 ClimateTech conference. Experts shared how machine learning can help with data analysis, climate simulation, and sustainability actions. However, challenges remain in data availability, computing resources, and technology alignment with climate goals.

This text summarizes the main points of research that explore how to achieve higher living standards and a net-zero emissions world by 2030. It explains the global aspirations and the trade-offs involved in pursuing growth, inclusion, and sustainability. It also emphasizes the urgency and importance of this decade for the future of humanity.

Leaders face challenges in the net-zero transition, but they can also create value by being resilient and sustainable. Some companies are more confident and strategic than others in pursuing green growth opportunities. Research shows that proactive and growth-oriented actions can lead to an earnings advantage.

USE CASES

Gen AI is a powerful technology that can transform the financial services industry in many ways. It can:

  • Increase productivity and efficiency by summarizing complex information and automating tasks.

  • Enhance customer experience and engagement by making online interactions conversational and personalized.

  • Support and empower employees by providing assistance, coaching, and coding generation.
